Inspired by the inter-tangling of waiting forest, noisy river edges,
exposed desert, and inner landscape
Hello–I’m so glad you’ve dropped by to scramble among the flowers and branches, thorns and fruits of this brambled way!
Let me take a moment to introduce you to “me and my blog” . . .
I have been a writer for a while now—ever since I successfully steered my fat yellow pencil around the simple letters of my name—and I’ve since pursued my craft in many, mini ways. It was through my wildlife biology degrees that I first honed my skills as objective observer and science communicator. Later, when my career path jogged over to education, my creative whims slanted off in lesson plans, labs, teaching, and holding the sacred circle of each vibrant classroom. Countless lessons were learned during those filled-up years, and I, of course, was the student. My inspiration? Hundreds of children and teens, plus the threads of constancy that will always guide me: my loved ones, past and present writers, and the wild, often subtle truths I discover in Nature—whenever I slow down enough to breathe them in.
Here on the Brambled Way, through a blend of photography, prose, and verse, I’ll invite you to consider my belief that humankind’s spiritual, intellectual, emotional and physical health is ultimately embedded within Nature’s never-ceasing rhythm of life and death, that we each crave and need time in the wild outdoors, and that the Earth’s future leans upon our soul-knowledge of her. Poets, writers, owls, frogs, shrubs, and streams have opened my eyes and heart to these truths, and I am privileged to be part of the ripple. Please join me in deepening our bond between inner landscape and outer wildscape. ~Jill Sisson
