Willamette Valley Winter   4 comments

Met up with my favorite trail yesterday, the one just six miles north of town. Took along my camera, a few too many thoughts, left behind the highway noise, and entered new year’s fog. Smelled low, tangy notes of homey wood smoke, heard high-pitched peeps beyond eye’s reach. Relished angles and arcs of lichen-draped limbs, caught a lucky moment with a plucky winter wren. Followed this trail wherever she went: up, around, across, and down. Then Through, Within, Near, and Among . . .

and the january fog began to lift.
