Green-man guardian, leaf-crowned lord
with cavernous memory before written word —
foliated friend, who oversees
our porch-sized woodland
of bonsai leaves among plunking acorns
and drumming rain, who nixes the noxious, and breathes “amen”
when choirs of chloroplasts launch sweet notes
along root-tips, needles, fronds and fruits,
for pillaging pill bugs and squirrel-sized monks
— his skin furrowed deep like sacred oak,
evergreen guardian of our ever-green world
